Abstract

Pterygium is one of the most frequent ophthalmological conditions worldwide, its early diagnosis and knowledge of its behavior is of paramount importance. For this reason, a descriptive research was carried out to characterize the presence of primary Pterygium at Pedro Díaz Cuello polyclinic in Holguín, during 2018-2020 stage. Statistical data describing the disease behavior in different population groups were obtained, which allowed reaching to conclusions regarding diagnosis, prevention, causes, evolution and control. It was concluded that the proper application of systematic strategies for diagnosis and prevention, as well as the search for medications that contribute to eyes hydration, are some of the ways that favor timely control.
