Influence of lubrication regimes in tool life and surface finish of milling hardened steels AISI D2 and AISI D6
Keywords:

The influence of lubrication regimes in tool life and surface finish during milling tooling steel AISI D2 and AISI D6 is performed. An analysis of the surface quality and the tool life during machining with high speeds of these steels in two regimes of lubrication is done. The tests were performed in a machining center MORI SEIKI SV 40 and interchangeable coated carbide tools were used. The surface quality evaluation was conducted by off-line monitoring of the surface roughness average Ra in the feed direction and perpendicular to this. The progression of the tool wear was analyzed through a stereoscope mounted in conjunction with a digital camera interfaced to an image analyzer program. Applying dry milling cutting hardened steels at high speeds, points towards a reduction of process costs associated with the use and recycling liquid lubricants and increased surface quality of the workpiece and the tool life.Downloads
