Los Modelos Digitales del Terreno (MDT), también llamados Modelos de Elevación Digital, han adquirido una gran popularidad e importancia en los últimos años al utilizarse conjuntamente con otros datos dentro de los Sistemas de Información Geográfica (SIG) en diferentes campos del saber humano y, entre ellos, la Geología. Existen diferentes vías o métodos para la elaboración u obtención de los MDT. En el presente trabajo se expone la metodología utilizada para la creación del MDT de un área de 35 km2 en una zona del noroeste de la provincia de Pinar del Río, así como su procesamiento para la definición, o delimitación, de las zonas favorables para localizar yacimientos de minerales metálicos según criterios geomorfológicos conocidos y establecidos para esa región de Cuba.Downloads
