Algunas particularidades petroquímicas de las metavulcanitas del complejo metamórfico de la Sierra del Purial
Abstract
En este artículo se dan a conocer algunas características petroquímicas de las rocas del complejo metamórfico y volcánico presentes en la Sierra del Purial, provincia Guantánamo; aportando datos novedosos que revelan que las anfibolitas y las vulcanitas de la Fm. Quibiján tienen características típicas de toleitas abisa las propias de la corteza oceánica, mientras que las metamorfitas de la Fm. Sierra del Purial representan a las vulcanitas metamorfizadas de antiguos arcos de islas; aunque algunos cortes tienen carácter de toleitas abisales, lo que en un fu turo debe aclararse al estudiar con más detalle esta formación. Se concluye que las anfibolitas y las vulcanítas de Quibiján pertenecen al complejo ofiolítico, mientras que sobre la Fm. Sierra del Purial, no se puede hacer una afirmación categórica ya que es posible que parte de las secuencias asignadas a la misma sean también del complejo ofiolítico lo que requerirá de investigaciones futuras.Downloads
