Statistical model for simulation of acid leaching reactors
Keywords:
mathematical modeling, simulation, leach reactors, parametric sensitivity analysis.Abstract
A statistical model was developed to simulate the operation of the reactor bank in the acid leach process and determine the cobalt and nickel extraction efficiency based on the operating parameters. The results of the validation tests indicated that more than 95% of the values obtained from the model were within the estimated confidence limits. However, it was observed that there is a tendency that the calculated value be lower than the reported values, which is evidenced in 65,79 % and 61,84 % of the cobalt and nickel extraction efficiencies, respectively. A parametric sensitivity analysis was conducted to determine the influence of the operating variables of the system. It was concluded that the sensitivity depends on the system operating rate and that the most significant variables at all rates are: the concentration of magnesium and nickel and acid-ore ratio.Downloads
