Abstract

To promote quality health care at clinics of family doctors in remote areas the design and construction of a hybrid solar heater was proposed, especially in the mountains. The efficiency of the solar heater was calculated from the reference of December, the lowest solar radiation month in Holguín province. A temperature control system was added to the prototype to guarantee operation in night schedule, which can be built optionally, depending on the region where it is used, with or without electricity from the national red distribution. The hybrid solar heater was implemented in the Family Medical Clinic No. 5 from La Caridad town, Calixto Garcia municipality, Holguín, Cuba.
