Abstract

A calculation model was obtained for the determination of the working curves of the centrifugal pumpƂ 160/40. From the method proposed by Stepanoff that includes the use of experimental coefficients, an analytical method was developed for the study of the ideal conditions to the real ones in the operation of centrifugal pumps. They were formulated through the study and establishment of these coefficients mathematical equations that allowed obtaining the characteristics load-capacity and hydraulic performance-capacity from the dimensions of the impeller and the specific speed. As a main result of the investigation, the working curves of the centrifugal pump Ƃ 160/40 with errors lower than 5% with respect to those reported by the manufacturer were obtained; thus, the validity of the obtained method is concreted, and its scientific, practical and economic value is shown, allowing the dimensioning of centrifugal impellers for the manipulation of fluids.
