Abstract

The seismic behavior of the slopes was determined with the use of the Slide software. For the determination of the seismic coefficient in its horizontal and vertical components, the Spanish Seismic Resistive Construction Standard was used to calculate the components in the terrains. Among the methods for calculating slopes for soils and rocks, the simplified Janbu method designed for any fault surface was used. It is concluded that, when taking into account the seismic coefficient, the safety factor decreases drastically and the areas for which the slope can fail increase.
