Abstract

After varying the downstream slope in a 20 m high earth dam with a drainage mattress and without considering its foundation, considering the saturated and partially saturated soil, a statistical analysis was carried out. A case study was presented for the soil of the Cuban Capdevilla formation, and from the use of the SEEP / W and SLOPE / W tools, from the GeoStudio 2012 program and the Statgraphics program (version 5); the upper flow line was obtained from flow network and the safety factor of the downstream slope for various combinations of internal cohesion and friction angle fixed by the statistical program. A subsequent analysis is carried out where it is observed that increasing the downstream slope is possible for the proposed case and the stability is the most influential factor in the cohesion of the soil.
