Abstract

Prediction and evaluation methods were defined for blasting in “Castellano” polymetallic mine, which adapt to the characteristics and complexities of the Deposit. For which the properties of the rocks, the structural characteristics of the massif, the explosive substances used and the blasting patterns design were taken into account.  After feasibility studies of different existing blasting prediction methods, KUZ-RAM prediction method was applied for the mine and WIPFRAG software for its evaluation. A convergence greater than 95% was obtained in the two tests performed between the curves, which imply a margin of error less than 5%. It is considered that the KUZ-RAM prediction method is appropriate for predicting grading to be obtained through blasting in Castellano polymetallic mine with the standards used. It was found correspondence between prediction and the result, why it is considered that KUZ-RAM prediction method is appropriate for predicting grading to be obtained through blasting in Castellano polymetallic mine with the patterns used.
