Abstract

The objective of the work is to characterize microstructurally the transformations that occur in a hypoeutectic white foundry of national production in rough casting. Three molten samples were analyzed, to which metallographic tests and hardness were performed on the edge, between the center and the edge and in the center, to determine the solidification process and the hardness in them. The microstructures determined in each of the parts of the piece were preceded by the presence of cementite, perlite and ledeburite, but with differences in the formation of the size of the grains, which is associated with the solidification process in the mold. In the hardness profiles made, this property varies according to the area analyzed, 525 HV at the edge, 470 HV at the center and 508 HV between the edge and the center.
