Abstract

The first experiences carried out in the REM-UO Energy and MaterialsRecovery Research Group of the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering on the energy use of briquettes made with sawdust and waste paper as a binder are reported. 24 briquettes, each approximately 10 cm long, were molded. Immediate analysis of the samples was carried out, obtaining low values in ash and humidity, which avoids the generation of dust and the delay in the ignition of the coal. Its calorific power was also measured with the Mahler pump and then this value was verified with the linear regression formula given by scientific literature, obtaining very close values. The excellent results obtained in this first stage encourage the continuity of the tests to optimize production in order to achieve a quality product, contribute to the care of the environment and provide an energy solution to equipment that works with solid fuels.
