Abstract

The metallurgical variations that occur in a hastelloy C-276 superalloy exposed to heat treatment were determined. To carry out the same, the wedge of a valve made of this alloy was selected, its body was sectioned into three parts, which were exposed to a temperature of 1050 oC in a muffle furnace for one hour and cooled in water. It was determined that the standard sample is composed of dendritic austenite and ferrite, product of a forging process and then, these change to martensite and dendritic austenite by the thermal cycle. Due to the effect of the 217 HV treatment, in the structure established by the standards, it increases to 325 HV in the standard sample and up to 380 HV when carrying out the treatment due to the decrease in grain size.
