Abstract

One of the main priorities in Cuba is the sustainable development of localities. This involves making changes, seeking alternatives to ensure that we are born and raised with the certainty that human deprivation will be compensated. In Moa, the mining and metallurgical industry has developed as the main economic activity in Moa. The investigation focuses on the primary objective to seek alternative activities for the sustainable development of the community. It is started with a community diagnosis in order to be able to identify potential means of development by using the existing natural and human resources, thereby improving living standards and increasing social wellbeing. The investigation methodology is basically qualitative; which implements the use of descriptive cases such as the investigation method using the DAFO matrix for the identification of regional potentialities and limitations.
