Abstract

This work presents a computerized system for electro-oculographicrecording of saccadic eye movements, known as EyesTracker. It calculates thevariables that have a greater clinical significance together with statisticaldescriptors for ataxia investigations. Holguín has the highest rate of prevalenceof ataxia in the world. The results of this research have been used successfullyfor over a year in diagnosing and investigating the disease and in clinical trialson candidate drugs for ataxia treatment at the Centre of Investigation andRehabilitation of Hereditary Ataxia in Holguín.
