Abstract

This work is based on an inspection made to the existing electricalpower system (SE) in the Hotel “Las Américas” with the objective to maximizeresources and save electrical power. The investigation was carried out in threephases to ensure proper operation of the electrical installation: Analysis of thedistribution system including preparation of a single-line diagram andverification of the performance of the components of the hotel’s electrical supplysystem; Design of a lighting system (re-design of the existing lightinginstallations in the Meeting Room and review of type of compressor’s controland drive systems installed on the cooling system); Power Consumption Reviewand Analysis to achieve electrical power maximization and savings in the entirefacility (Review of load control, setting and re-adjustment). An environmentalcompliance inspection was also conducted in the building for identification ofcurrent issues. To conclude, this work presents proposed solutions whichprovide an estimated power saving of 72144 kW a year; which accounts for $6853.60 (USD)/year.
