Abstract

The work describes the methodology to determine the useful creep life as established by ISO Standard TR 7468-1981 used in this investigation. A bibliographical investigation of different criteria and expressions from different authors and institutions was carried in order to calculate stresses to determine the useful creep life of steam generator tubes. The investigation results indicated the need to use the same expression for thick wall tubes from Lame’s problem and that of adding to the calculations the temperature difference between the inside and the outside of tube wall edges. This was applied for the steam generator tubes by implementing the useful creep life prediction methods for the boiler tubes operating at the Power Station in Cienfuegos with satisfactory results.
