Abstract

The main objective of the Mines Basic Unit is to supply the ore feed to the Che Guevara Plant. This requires creating suitable conditions to achieve a stable production maintaining ore quality standards and at the same time sustainability from the economic and environmental points of view by making rational use of mineral resources. This mining project will ensure compliance with the ore quality and volumes required in the initial phase of the project as well as expanding gradually mining operations to more distant mining fronts without requiring large investments on the infrastructure. During the opening phase, at about 400 000 tonnes of ore will be extracted and new access roads will be constructed in order to be able to mine these distant ore bodies. Mining activities will commence simultaneously in areas of low overburden ratios of fronts 1761 and 1861 in order toreduce haulage distances.
