Abstract

Electric energy consumption by the residential sector in Cuba accounts for 52% of the total domestic power consumption and the alarm has been recently raised over its progressive increase. A study on power requirements and power consumption of several electrical appliances was conducted using highly accurate electronic measuring devices connected to a computer. It was also required to prioritize the analysis of the loads having major impact on the power consumption pattern. This work includes a general description of different brands of household equipment and the electric potential regularities under different operating scenarios.
