Abstract

The research describes the various construction requirements for the manufacture of polyethylene (plastic) pipes for water transfer applications. It presents the fundamental issues metallurgical engineers deal with in the manufacturing process, the protection and hygienic measures in place in the workshops where the piping manufacturing process takes place in addition to the role of the enterprise in the protection of the environment such as raw material recycling, among others. The investigation includes an analysis of the equipment selection process based on technical and economic indicators and parameters taken into consideration for piping manufacture. It presents the technology applied for high density polyethylene pipe manufacture in the Holplast facility.
