Geological-structural model of the VEN1 deposit of the northwest of the lake of Maracaibo
Keywords:
exploration of hydrocarbons, VEN1 oil deposit, lake of Maracaibo, structural model.Abstract
This work aimed to elaborate the structural model of the VEN1 deposit to establish the geometry and the architecture of the same and to create structural maps -of the horizons that delimit the accumulation of hydrocarbons and the units of geological importance- in order to detect new exploitation areas. The methodology followed was based on the review of the reservoir information through document analysis and content analysis, data information from 34 new wells and the use of the Rockwell 16 computerized package. The structure of the reservoir was defined as anticlinal, showing a slight NW-SE dip and few structural features of great extent, except for two main faults located in the Northeast and South. It is concluded that the best area for the important accumulation of hydrocarbons is located in the northwest and southwest of the reservoir.Downloads
