Abstract

Findings pertaining the influence of the brain and its functions in various martial arts and the relationship to the neurosciences and psychology were assessed. In addition the advantages and disadvantages associated to the practice of martial arts as an additional tool for the intervention of patients were studied. The objective is to generate an assessment program allowing to manage injuries by identifying potential problems and their timely resolution. It was concluded that the practice of martial arts can have benefits to individuals of different ages on the biological and psychological levels thus impacting neuroplasticity and brain functionality.
