Leach slurry effects on Hastelloy C 276 alloy wear

The pumps used in the Cuban nickel industries to transfer leached slurry are manufactured with a Hastelloy C 276 alloy. Macroscopic analysis on the body of the pump casing was made to identify the surface damage caused by corrosion. Microscopic and micro hardness tests were completed for other samples. The microstructure reveals that the pump casing is affected by abrasion process during startup and lost thickness on the inside of the pump surface with a consequent reduction in weight and flow rate. This shows a linear pattern according to the time of wear.Downloads
