Abstract

This study was carried out in areas of the experimental teaching farm «La Margarita» located in Holguín Province, and it aims to evaluate the influence of Trichoderma spp. on pathogen control, as well as on the growth and development of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) cultivation. A completely randomized design with three replicates and two treatments was used. Morphological variables were evaluated: plant height, number of leaves per plant, and leaf size. The data obtained were subjected to one-way analysis of variance using the Infostat 2017 statistical package and Tukey’s test at a 95% significance level. In addition, climatic variables were recorded during crop growth and development. Results showed that the application of Trichoderma spp. as a biological control method had a favorable effect, reducing Meloidogyne spp. infestation from grades four and three to grade two. Besides, plant tissue components—plant height, number of leaves per plant, leaf width and length—exhibited the best performance in the treatment with Trichoderma (CT), with significant differences compared to the treatment without Trichoderma (ST).
