Abstract

A verification of the design of the drinking water pumping installation of the Guillermo Luis Fernández Hernández Baquero de Moa Hospital was carried out due to difficulties presented with the supply of the fluid to the areas that need it. A calculation methodology was applied based on the characteristics of the liquid to be handled to evaluate friction losses in the system of pipes and installed accessories. A pump with characteristics similar to the one installed was used because it lacks the corresponding technical sheet and there is no knowledge or data about it. The results revealed that the current system requires more time for filling than required, bringing with it high energy consumption, which is not capable of constantly guaranteeing power and covering the demand for drinking water to serve the areas it serves. An evaluation was carried out on the Etanorm ETN 65-50-160 brand centrifugal motor pump group, which has an operating point of 27 m3/h flow rate and a loading height of 36.03 m, which does not guarantee the necessary conditions for the analyzed water pumping system.
